Welcome to Woodmont Strings!
I am so excited to have you in our program! The Woodmont MS strings program meets Monday through Friday and consists of three levels of orchestra instruction during the school day, each with varying levels of involvement relative to a student’s needs, desires, and capabilities. The best way to contact me is through email at aathey@greenville.k12.sc.us. Please do not hesitate to contact me with ANY questions or concerns! Office hours are 7:30 AM -- 4 PM. The goal of this class is to learn to not only be successful musicians but also how to work as a team. I can't wait for a successful year of music making with you!

About me
Welcome! My name is Ashlyn Athey, and I am the strings director at Woodmont Middle. I was born and raised in Greenville, SC and graduated from Furman University in 2023 with degrees in Violin Performance and German. The past two years, I taught orchestra in Summerville, SC at Alston Middle School and served as the conductor for the Junior Philharmonic in the Summerville Youth Orchestra from 2025-2026. I also perform regularly for weddings, events, and other professional gigs in the Upstate.
In my free time, I enjoy hiking around the Upstate and Western N.C., playing cards, reading mystery novels, and doing CrossFit. I am so excited to have you in our program and am looking forward to a great year!
